Editorial invisibility: your voice, just crisper.
Founded in 2005, Typographica Manuscript offers freelance writing, overwriting, copy-editing, production editing, proofreading and project management services. No outsourcing, no sub-contracting; personal involvement at each step of the editing process means consistently clean text – on deadline.
I edit fiction, narrative non-fiction, trade, poetry, academic and education titles for publishing houses and self-publishing clients. I manage the editorial process from the content edit through the production edit to master set, including commissioning artwork, managing artwork and photo budgets, commissioning photo research and commissioning permissions research. I’ve reviewed fiction manuscripts, provided reader’s reports for publishing houses and reviewed published fiction and narrative non-fiction titles for literary journals. I’ve proofread FST magazine for over a year.
I’ve written and co-written 25 titles for South African schools and FET colleges, and have been overwriting manuscripts for eight years for content, structure and language level, often honing text for the second-language reader.
I hold an MA in English (Creative Writing: Poetry) from UCT and current membership of the Professional Editors' Group (PEG), the Southern African Freelancers' Association (SAFREA) and the Association of Non-fiction Authors of South Africa (ANFASA).
Satisfied, long-standing clients include Jonathan Ball Publishers; Tafelberg Publishers; Random House Struik imprints eKhaya, Zebra Press and Struik Travel and Heritage; Cambridge University Press; Oxford University Press; Pearson International imprints Pearson Education Africa and Pearson Education South Africa; COMPRESS.dsl; Juta Academic and Juta Learning; HSRC Press; Modjaji Books; Via Afrika; Troupant Publishing; FST Magazine; and Macmillan South Africa, Botswana and Swaziland.
I had the immense luck to find Angela as my editor. I had hoped that it would turn out to be a fruitful contract and exchange. It surpassed all my expectations. Angela is everything an author can dream of in an editor. She's prompt, careful, a terrific writer and editor. She raised some issues about content that neither I – nor other 'expert' reviewers – had thought of. She went above and beyond all my expectations. She edited an entire manuscript of mine within a few weeks and the result is amazing. If anyone ever wants to discuss her work with me, please do not hesitate. For my part, I simply cannot wait to work with her again.
Associate Professor, American University
Angela is an exceptional creative writer with a flair for any kind of writing and editing work. Her sensitivity, precision and gift for choosing the right turn of phrase, as well as her grasp of what is required for a project, are undeniable. I recommend Angela very highly.

Angela is one of the cleverest, most articulate and hardworking people I know. Add to this her creativity and reliability, and you have the kind of editor authors wish for.
Independent publishing professional
I rate Angela as one of the most efficient and organised editors I've had the pleasure of working with. Her briefs are never less than perfectly organised and leave very little to question. I'm glad at last to have the chance to boast Angela's efficiency and professionalism.
Fine artist and illustrator
Angela writes beautifully in a direct and easy-to-understand language. She grasps complicated concepts easily and simplifies them so that everyone can understand. She is organised, pleasant to work with and meets her deadlines. Her editing is thorough and she goes the extra mile in all her work. I wouldn't hesitate to work with Angela at any time, on any project.
